Sonohysterography Is a Reliable and Accurate Method For Investigating Uterine Factor Infertility
Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the accuracy and sensitivity of the sonohysterography versus 3D Ultrasound in investigating women with uterine factor infertility.
Study design: Randomized Controlled Trial
Participants and Methods: One hundred infertile women with suspected uterine factor infertility. All women were subjected to 3D ultrasound and then 2D sonohysterography. After that, they have undergone hysteroscopy as the gold standard test.
Results: 2D sonohysterography is superior to the 3D ultrasound in diagnosing the uterine polyps as the sonohysterography had a (100%) value for all the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and diagnostic accuracy versus [(82.35%), (100%), (100%), (88%) and (92.31%)]respectively for the 3D ultrasound. Combined sonohysterography and 3D ultrasound had (100%) diagnostic accuracy.
Conclusion: Sonohysterography is a reliable and accurate method for investigating women with uterine factor infertility.
